I always had this conspiracy theory that France and Germany freaking sucked at maintaining those nuclear reactors and to prevent a new Chernobyl disaster from happening they have to find an acceptable excuse to save face, the green excuse is the perfect excuse i guess.
It doesn't really makes sense most CO2 is released while constructing the nuclear reactors right, so closing them don't somehow eliminate the already released CO2.
