The once touted ally of the West is now under their crosshairs. So why is FATF now being used against UAE? Likely to with China & some regional dynamics.
1. UAE has been facilitating Chinese purchase of Iranian Oil which US has been complaining for quite some time.
2. Suspended F35 Acquisition and installation of Huawei Gear. So obviously the China hawks weren't happy.
3. Saudi too is pissed with UAE for many reasons esp reg Qatar and OPEC.

Grey listing is a underrated and effective weapon to financially damage economies as it targets capital inflows from Western jurisdictions.. Pakistan has been struggling to get out of it for a long time now .

All that is going to happen is that UAE will move further towards China. The US is no longer the sole hegemon that can practice arbitrary coercion on smaller countries without a response.

Btw, Lithuania is cracking:

Considering that they begged the EU to intervene (not only that actually, the European companies were also told to exclude Lithuanian components if they want to sell in China) and the latter did not do pretty much anything kinda shows that the rhetoric of "China needs West more" is total bullshit.

Another interesting quote from a Lithuanian redditor:
The opposition party in Lithuania has asked the National Security Department to investigate: Parliamentarians and politicians who visited Taiwan in 2020 suspect that they have accepted gifts from Taiwan’s peripheral organizations institutions.

Japan, Australia to Sign Defense Pact That Might Irk China

  • Treaty first of its type for Japan, other than with U.S., UN
  • Pact to contribute towards stable Indo-Pacific, Morrison says
Australia and Japan will sign a “historic” treaty that will further strengthen defense and security cooperation during a virtual leaders’ summit on Thursday, in a move that could further inflame tensions with China.

The agreement is the first of its type for Japan, other than with the U.S. and the UN, and marks a step closer in a relationship that is often referred to as a “quasi alliance.”

The signing of a Reciprocal Access Agreement will underpin greater and more complex practical engagement between the Australian Defence Force and the Japanese Self-Defence Force, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said in an emailed statement. The pact will provide a clear framework for enhanced interoperability and cooperation, he added.

“This treaty will be a statement of our two nations’ commitment to work together in meeting the shared strategic security challenges we face and to contribute to a secure and stable Indo-Pacific,” Morrison said.

“We share with Australia the basic values of freedom and democracy,” Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno told reporters Wednesday. The two leaders plan to discuss matters of mutual concern at their virtual meeting, including national security, the economy and regional affairs, in a bid to strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation toward a free and open Indo-Pacific, he added.
Agreements between countries should promote peace and “not target any third parties,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said Wednesday at a regular press briefing in Beijing.

“The Pacific is vast enough, there’s enough room for shared development for all,” he said, adding that China hoped people would not be “stirring up trouble” in the region.

Japan and Australia had reached a basic agreement on the RAA in 2020 and had faced stumbling blocks, including concern that Australian troops found guilty of serious crimes could be subject to the death penalty in Japan.

Australia also signed a strategic defense pact last year with U.K. and the U.S. that will enable the country to build nuclear-powered submarines, a move that China said would fuel an

in the region.

Cooperation under the new Australia-Japan pact also includes an expanding agenda for the Quad with India and the U.S., and shared technology-led approach to reducing carbon emissions, Morrison said.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said Tuesday he had been seeking an in-person summit with Morrison, but had set the plan aside in order to focus on dealing with the latest surge in virus cases.

The irony is she's a Jew and the same thing she accuses that Asians just suck up to the elitist can be said of her. She just doesn't think the American right are the elitists in power. The Democrats are more likely to follow right-wing Republican foreign policy than the other way around. Look at China. The US's China policy is all about defending white supremacy in the world.

When I first read what was accused of her, I thought she was talking about East Asians. East Asians aren't political and the ones that do take a position usually but-kiss the right-wing while hating their own. How does a right-winger have a problem with that? Look at Hong Kongers and how they blindly defend the US right-wing. But she was talking about Indians. They do tend to be more political but just like East Asians, they suck up to the right as well. She's a hypocrite because some of things she said such as more likely to be woke, could and has been accused of larger minority groups in the US. Because she was talking to an African-American host, she spewed out the same nonsense but towards another group because she was being woke afraid of the criticism. Asians more likely to adopt American woke policies of Democrats are a problem? The irony is that she just won't come out and say it that she's just anti-immigration. The whole woke thing is just the latest way of how they try to turn some old into something new. The Republicans are being woke because they say they hate the CCP instead saying "Chinese" because it will make them look racist and they know that's a problem for the right when getting their message out. I bet any Chinese that don't blindly follow them are considered communists. That's how they worm their way around from being called racist. The right-wing hate political correctness because it prevents what they think is the truth from being said. Here, they're afraid of just speaking the truth because that will detract even sympathizers that don't want to be known as racists. That is the very definition of things they claim not to like.
I have said all along that camps are coming when Republicans win the presidency and Congress. As more time passes, I am more and more convinced of that. Republicans are already gradually laying the groundwork to do that
