forecast on new year's eve

will the world's economy fall into recession (again) in 2022?

most international institutions: IMF, world bank, OECD; most central banks: Fed, ECB, have given rosy forecast for 2022: continuing recovery, robust growth...

I'm not convinced, I'm concerned about the inflation. I think Fed and ECB will battle hard to bring the inflation under control, most advanced economies will suffer the same fate. The EM economies won't fair any better, as the off shore USD financing alone now stands at 16 trillions, high rates means capital flight.

we don't need to wait till the end of 2022, by the end of Q1, we should be able to tell if this forecast is good.

Seven out of 10 South Koreans chose China as the biggest security threat to their country among the neighbors, excluding North Korea, a survey showed Wednesday.
According to a survey by the state-run Korea Institute of National Unification (KINU) on 1,006 adults, 71.8 percent of the respondents picked China as the biggest threat to the nation, followed by Japan with 21.1 percent and the United States with 6.3 percent.
Amid an intensifying U.S.-Sino rivalry, 52.5 percent said the Seoul government should seek balanced diplomacy between the two world powers, while 31.1 percent supported strengthening the alliance with Washington
The survey has a 95 percent confidence level, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage point.

Notice that the number of Koreans that want a deeper relationship is only 31 percent while if they really are Allies, especially with the USA presence in nation and the CIA bullshit going strong, the percentage should be in the 90 percentage range, but for it to be less then 50 percent, this is embarrassing. If the USA loses its foothold in Asia, watch Korea sell out the USA and basically offer China the moon and back to take vengeance or at the very least an opportunity to act as a willing buffer state against Japan while stealing as much part of the market as possible from Japan as a major screw you to Japan because China, unlike the USA actually share a bad history with Japan that has never been solved even till now and there is good potential for China to play on that. Really a lot of Koreans are getting sick of the presence of the USA in Korea and it is the USA that prevents Korea from getting even with Japan so really I don’t expect Korea to stay loyal to the USA if the USA cannot give Korea anything while the USA goes down the toilet and really, I don’t think Korea would really want to trade there goods for toilet paper if the US dollar loses most of its value.
All these so call polls are telling me right now, is that not many nations are interested in dying for the USA while the USA sits back and watch while parading the human rights banner like a c$&t that’s needs a hard spanking. Really, at this point in time, it might be better if the world sanctions the USA if they cannot pay back the interest on it debt because printing money isn’t going to cut it in the coming days

@Overbom bro even if the survey is real, let them hate, the hard reality is there is no way that south korea will join any military action with the us in scs or taiwan strait,

China-North Korea Treaty of Friendship, Co-operation and Mutual Assistance Article II of the Treaty declares that the two nations undertake all necessary measures to oppose any country or coalition of countries that might attack either nation

south korea is effectively contained as long as north korea exist

Diplomatically, South Korea ought to be a prime target for Chinese diplomacy. The people of Korea are sick of the American occupation forces, and like China they are unhappy that Japanese brutality they suffered was quickly forgiven by the west.

For the last 7 decades South Korea has suffered under western hegemony, but recently they have started to assert their own identity and culture. There was a time Korea was thought to become the second Christian nation in Asia - this is clearly not happening now.
