This happened a few days ago and I think it's worth to post here. The US imposes arm embargo on Cambodia cites close relationship with China.
Except some equipment donated by The US, I don't recall we have any meaningful equipment in our military. Cambodia doesn't buy US weapon anyway because it is simply too expensive. Our Prime Minister orders to recall all US weapon in use for storage or destroyed. This is the strongest and most important sentence: "Know that if you want to be independent in the field of defense, do not use American weapons"

The whole thing felt like a giant bait and switch. Everyone was worried about Honduras switching, with Washington and Taiwan pledging monetary support when Nicaragua dropped out of nowhere. So quickly did it happen that even the Nicaraguan ambassador to Taiwan was in the dark about it till the last minute...
I saw Taiwanese news about it, she had public events promoting Nicaragua in Taiwan planned until up to 25th of December. Either they decided to keep her in the dark for opsec reasons or she was really good at being a decoy.
I'm telling you this was a textbook case of 声东击西.
