Mr Bean.. excellent post. ^^^.and I of course agree...In fact I will stop posting medal totals. I'll only post pictures of the events and save the medals totals 'til the end of the games.

Jamaicans celebrate while watching Usain Bolt win the men's 100 metres final during the London 2012 Olympic Games, as they gather in Half Way Tree in Kingston August 5, 2012. Any doubts that Bolt is the greatest sprinter to grace an athletics stadium were swept away in 9.63 seconds at the London Olympics on Sunday evening. The Jamaican's winning time in the 100 metres final was just five-hundredths of a second outside his own world record and he became the first man to cross the line first in successive Olympic finals.

guys i think we all need to relax and just ENJOY the olympic games. there is no reason to turn this into a huge USA VS CHINA thing. it was very ungracious for john leonard to make cheap shots at a chinese swimmer for an awesome performance in the pool but one man does not speak for the entire US olympic delegation. i would think most members of the US delegation would be embarressed by such remarks from a buffoon! just because some american (western media) picked up that allegation and put a whole new spin on it, it doesnt mean every western media is anti china even though some are. the western media is very diverse and all kinds of opionon can be found. china is a huge power that is on the rise and thats why it always have extra scrutiny on whatever it does. we need to relax a little because just when does western bias and attacks ever stop chinese from achieving their goals? in fact the opposite effect happens because it just motivates them to work harder & unify for success.

does it really matter who is tops at the medal table? china & the USA, either one will be #1 or #2 and these are 2 great sporting nations and lets just enjoy the spectacular performances of their athletes and cheer for them. its hard to avoid dirty politics but the olympic games should also be for friendship and sportsmanship.

On the other hand, some competition makes it interesting. It's the last NBA Finals. With the King and Durant, the NBA Finals all of a sudden becomes THE game to watch.

im very impressed with the jamaican's track and field. i hope usain bolt is just the beginning and would spawn a new generation of world class sprinters from that island nation. of course china & USA doing so spectacularily well is expected. but britain is a major surprise! we all knew the home team advantage will be beneficial to the brits but this is historic. im sure even her majesty would approve! japan was a major dissappointement. something has gone wrong with the japanese in sports.

As much as you guys would love to see china and US loving eachother. It will NEVER happen. This is sporting war. Winning the medal table is everything for the psychology of the 2 countries. If America wins, they will gain confidence china is not there yet. But if china wins, then the American cage will be rattled.

Did you see 4 gold medals already were robbed from china. 2 from gymnastics, 1 from trampoline and 1 from cycling. All western judges discriminating against china, in the gymnastics and trampoline we were clearly the best, but judges awarded gold to undeserving people.

The judges must hate china so much. That was outrageous judging, blatant cheating. We were robbed.

Sorry but Olympics have always been political, it's a sign of a powerful country. We must beat the Americans at ALL costs. If we lose to America, I consider it as a national humiliation for china.

Who is "we"? Do you live in China? Or do you mean Ethnic Chinese as a whole group. No need to disclose to anyone where you live!!

Bean & J-XX are like different ends of the spectrum! Although I actually enjoy the fierce (sometimes ugly) rivalry between China and the US and think that a little controversy also makes it interesting, but J-XX you really need to chill out.

I want China to top the medals table too, but it's no shame to lose if we've given everything. Most important is the sporting spirit and respect for fellow athletes.

First of all, learn how to use quotes. 2nd of all, I was not talking to you in the first place, I was responding to solarz as he was saying about the medal count, but you decided to butt-in with soviet made cars and nuclear warhead which makes absolutely no sense, therefore I responded to you, which I now think is a huge mistake.

The original discussion was never for whatever medal was worth it for not, it was simply an acknowledged that China will eventually dominate the medal stance just like Soviet Union did. You on the other hand however decide to dispute that, and when I presented you with the evidence, how convenient that you ask me what does it prove?

So next time when people are not talking to you, be respectful, don't butt in.

There's an ignore list if you want to no longer see his comments FYI.

The word "support" can have many definitions. You can support China by cheering them in the Olympics or you can support China by spying for her, but I think most oversea Chinese would support China morally, I don't think they will harm the country they live in to benefit China.
