Could we also talk about what lessons Taiwan can learn from Ukraine conflict?

One thought I had is Taiwan should not buy Abrams and instead spend that money on something else. Tank have proven to be venerable to atgm.

It's that Americans are not reliable and have no credibility whatsoever when faced with peer military with a large number of nuclear weapons. All about what they say with assuring and comforting words are absolutely worthless when the real actions start. Taiwan will be on its own when PLA crosses the straight, and all DPP elites should be well advised to begin practicing evacuation flights right about now.

You'd still need tanks to maintain the siege.

The crux is that the PLA has no real need to conduct urban fighting in Taiwan. What would be the purpose? Let the enemy stay hidden in civilian basements while you keep sending in troops and equipment. Cut off power and supplies and just wait for them to surrender.

Just to make it clear but are you suggesting China only send troops or troops and armored vehicles but keep vehicles outside urban areas onto the island.

If there's any opposition in urban zones, just cut off any access to those zones and park the troops outside. No need to fight them at all. Taiwan is an island, nobody is going to be sending them supplies.

You didn’t answer the question. Are you suggesting the PLA only send troops or troops/vehicles onto the island. Because I am getting the impression you are also suggesting the PLA troops should transport supplies from the beachhead on foot and further inland on foot based on the original comment.

No idea how you got that conclusion.

Is it really so hard to understand that the PLA doesn't need to do urban fighting in Taiwan?

You are missing my point. As I said before. Do you think the PLA should land vehicles onto the island. I even specifically mentioned above to keep them out of urban areas. I am starting to think even cargo trucks are a big no no to you.

I'm not sure what your point is.

The issue here is the difficulty of armor and infantry vehicles fighting in urban settings.

I'm saying the PLA can simply avoid getting into such fights in the first place.

I have no clue how you managed to interpret that as saying don't send any vehicles onto the island.
