... The adventurous acts of the Indian army have seriously undermined the stability of the border areas, threatened the lives of Chinese personnel, violated the agreements reached...

Seems like an indirect confirmation of no casualties, but perhaps some soldiers injured.

From your posts around here I gather that you're concerned about a war breaking out between India and China. Don't be. Narendra Modi is nothing but a gerbil, he's a little rodent who'll run at the first sign of real danger. He's real tough when he's bulling Indian Muslims and Kashmiris, but he'll run like the rat he is the second he's confronted with real power.

I’m not. Modi’s statement, if anything, is conciliatory considering the perceived injustice from Indian POV. I think he is willing to deescalate.

Just watching Modi's address to his nation. His message: 'We've taught China a lesson, now we want peace.' (lolz, GG)

Looks like the 'Ladakh Crises' is over folks. India has accepted the new status quo.

My congrats to China

I think it has to do with the released of 10 Indian soldiers. Maybe China offered the release of those soldiers for Modi to say no one intruded India's territory.

No they were saying that from the beginning. The official Indian statements, even before the casualties, was that China hasn't actually intruded into Indian claimed territory.

The funny thing is that even the pro-Modi Indians on this forum didn't believe that. This is why members like berserk were gunning for retaliation, because they at least accept the change in status quo on the ground. But their own media/government isn't even willing to accept that publicly (even though everyone knows it.)

I doubt it would that simple, will probably need to watch the area to learn of the long term deal/ramifications.

The statement effectively said Indian army went into Chinese territory to do something and got their ass kicked, whether the Chinese side had any casualties is still unconfirmed although, from all we know at the moment, seems to be low or nonexistent. Plus the fact that there is no official boasting from the Indian side means what we suspected for all this time is probably true.

Thus this statement at this time is effectively an Indian surrender with god knows what terms. Since we now know that there was a second release of prisoners.

Has there been anything concrete yet on who started this?

Judging by how neutral Western media and governments are about this incident, I'm 80% certain this was India's fault.
