Looks like someone was telling porkies at the time. Interesting there is a second soldiers name on it. I wonder if he's also going to get a posthumous medal as well? How many more Indian soldiers died in unrelated drowning accident around that time? Two soldiers, Naik Sachin Vikram More (37) from Malegaon and Lance Naik Saleem Khan (23) from Patiala, died after drowning in a river in Ladakh’s Galwan Valley area. Their last rites were held on Saturday.
While there was no official statement from the Army, sources said “these are accidents and not connected to the current situation in the region”.
The families of the two soldiers said they were told that the two men were part of a team involved in “constructing a bridge” in the area. While defence sources said More’s death was “reported on Thursday”, Khan’s family said they were informed that he died on Friday.
Yes, it is very suspicious that soldiers who were part of the army engineering corps died while building a bridge over a hazardous river. An interesting update from the Indian army. It seems they may have confirmed another soldier died in the conflict.
I googled the name and came across this article:

Any Indians care to explain what's going on here?

This death was first announced by the Army in June of 2020. Sappers weren't involved in the June 16 clash.Smart thing for them to disclose it now since everyone’s attention is in Ukraine right now.
That said, I heard that the actual Indian deaths is a lot higher than 20. They didn’t account for a lot of missing soldiers in the casualty report. This was revealed on a podcast by a Global Times journalist who visited Tibet frontline outposts during Xi’s visit to Tibet in 2021.
It does seem a little strange to me. The stories in Indian media doesn't totally add up:Yes, it is very suspicious that soldiers who were part of the army engineering corps died while building a bridge over a hazardous river.
The bridge in that incident was later completed and is currently visible on commerical satellite imagery

It does seem a little strange to me. The stories in Indian media doesn't totally add up:
So which one is it? Did his boat capsize, was he building a bridge, or was he patroling a river? If he was just building a bridge why is it considered a battle casualty?
What's a Sena Medal? Do Indian soldiers who die in accidents get it if it's unrelated to battle? If that's the case, why give it now?
Did you read your own article? The reason he was awarded was because he died while trying to rescue the other soldier, who had fallen in the river
Naik Sachin More (L) and Lance Nail Saleem Khan died in two separate accidents in remote Leh.
Two more soldiers! A lot of Indian soldiers started drowning in the days after the Galwan incident it seems.Meanwhile, the authorities are still looking for the bodies of a young Indian Engineering Service (IES) officer and his driver whose vehicle was washed away by the fast-flowing Drass river.
The officer, identified as Subhan Ali met an accident when his driver lost control of the vehicle on a hilly stretch. The accident was reported during the intervening night of June 22 and 23.
The Indian engineering service isn't even a part of the Indian military. It is a civilian engineering agencyDid you read your own article?
It says:
As well as that at the bottom of the article it says:
Two more soldiers! A lot of Indian soldiers started drowning in the days after the Galwan incident it seems.
Yes, just like I said all these articles contradict each other. A rescue mission is pretty related to the victim who drowned. The Indian engineering service isn't even a part of the Indian military. It is a civilian engineering agency
Lance Naik Saleem Khan was on engineering duty in the Army’s operational area near the Indo-China border in the Ladakh region near Shiok River. At around 1.30pm on June 26, his regiment was installing ropes for rescue operations by boat in the Shiok River when his boat capsised. He was martyred at around 3.20pm.
His boat capsized while he was on a rescue mission for the other soldier, who had fallen in the river earlier
