Who booked the order? If actual co-production a la Airbus, then what portions are provided by China and what by Pakistan?

the buzz around forums is Srilanka looking to purchase 6 JF-17

seems like they are finally committing to this line of choice, after observing a steady development on the JF-17

no second hand F-16? JF-17 you go, more exports to come!

Sri Lanka is not very friendly with US. I think is due to handling of Tamil Tiger Issue.

US weapon for Sri Lankan will be the last choice.

while the weapon are chinese,SIGINT and possible EMINT came from the US.

We got a lot stuff when Pres. Bush was in power. Both defensive & offensive equipment, intelligence etc, etc. Bush was considered an ally even a friend by some. But once the democrats got the white-house things when down-hill very very fast, and is going to be edgy for sometime. Several dems including Hilary Clinton & John Kerry are considered anti-SL.

CAC's FC1 line is perfectly capable to assemble the additional FC1 airframes while making complete knock down kits to ship to PAC.

Pakistan helped Sri Lanka in defeating Tamil Tigers, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are good friends

lets wait until the deal is signed

using Chinese marketing and Pakistan experience we could do good deals on JF17

An interesting scenario is who will sell JF-17/FC-1 to new buyers? I'm sure both China and Pakistan want market shares in developing countries that seek to purchase/upgrade affordable light multi-role fighters.

Since the engines are Russian and the deal for them is via China who holds the right to re-export from the Russians, unless Pakistan can sign a deal directly with the Russians they won't be selling anything.

Gripen has US engine, still it is exported... Even to nations that were almost forced to accept cheap F16's.

I do not see any real issues with Russian engine in a JF17. If I remember some folks back decade a go telling me that it was a paper plane I was pretty sure they were wrong. Now I flew the JF17 simulator, sat in an operational JF17 and talked to most of the test pilots, crews and engineers. I think I can say that it is not a big issue. I am not going to tell you more cause I not like to hurt or degrade anyone or any nation. Leave the drama about what will or will not without the facts.
