Some interesting comments.

So, "inviting the aircraft to display and perform for free" is correct... "except for the travel"? Would that be similar to the "1/2 million dollars transportation costs for the show + insurance costs for flight"?
I understand about show costs, and agreed it would be a waste of money for the JF-17. We probably dont agree on why military aircraft go to trade shows though, for example the Tejas at Bahrain. Its not just to sell your aircraft to the host country, but also to showcase the aircraft, the technology and industry etc to the international audience that is present. I dont believe the UK, France or UAE have the slightest interest in ordering the Thunder, just as Bahrain never would, so why go to those countries then? Your logic. Good luck to the JF-17 in Morocco. Maybe they are considering it to replace their F-5's? Its certainly less laughable than Qatar buying it.
BTW, do you have a source to back up... "Bahrain created the hype itself to force the JF17 into the show"? Maybe a PAF source? Or is that just your own conspiracy theory not based on any facts?

Hi,

Paris / France---Farnborough / UK---Dubai / Emirates are the top notch defence air shows in the west---anybody who wants to be somebody in defence related aircraft makes a presence there and to perform a flight display is the icing on the cake---.

It is like conquering the K 2 of the mountains---everything else is like the Everest where can get to the top by being carried on the back of porters.

Hi,

I will answer the question one more time----. First of all paf does not go to Bahrain air shows---. It goes to Dubai---Bahrain is not a defence industry show but rather commercial airlines show.

With already two orders signed and 66 aircraft in active flight / deployment status---a sqdrn deployed at combat commander's school---similar to the topgun----paf is no in hurry to spend money to just go to a show to attract customers---or to show off against another aircraft---it already has done the footwork.

The customers are already in the bag---so why to spend a million useless dollars for display fees and another 1/2 million dollars transportation costs for the show + insurance costs for flight---when the nations are inviting the aircraft to display and perform for free.

Actually---there are 3 orders signed for the JF 17---the 3rd order is for paf for 50 BLK 3 JF17's----.

So---Tejas will have to wait to compete----it will have to wait its turn------
If block 3 orders are committed, what delivery dates are we looking at? Additionally, do you have specs on the AESA?

For all 50 Block IIIs to be delivered by 2018, PAC will have to start building the first unit sometimes this year. We are not even sure if the block configuration is fully finalized by now. Starting later on this year or next would mean building 25 units or close to it to meet the above posted date.

It has been reported that PAC is gearing up the assembly / production line for full capacity, 25 / year if not mistaken. However, more capacity to take into account for the export units ? For that reason, I don't see above date being met, although I would love to see it happen.

Singapore Airshow 2016: China's AVIC reveals details about its first export of the JF-17 Thunder
Jon Grevatt, Singapore - IHS Jane's Defence Industry
15 February 2016

China's state-owned Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) has revealed more details about the first confirmed export order of the JF-17 Thunder multirole combat aircraft, co-developed by AVIC's Chengdu Aerospace Corporation and the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC).

Speaking at the Singapore Airshow on 16 February, a senior official from AVIC, did not reveal the identity of the customer but did confirm it is in Asia. The export customer is understood to be Myanmar. The number of aircraft purchased by the export customer have also not been revealed but aircraft deliveries are expected before the end of 2017.

The senior official, who did not want to be identified, said the export customer is not expected to licence produce the JF-17 aircraft but that discussions are continuing about its industrial involvement in the programme.
