Just want to point out that we don’t actually know what this engine in question is. From the source we know it’s a “new engine” but that could mean almost anything, it’s as likely to be WS-19 as it’s likely to be some variant of the WS-13 platform. We just don’t know at the moment.

Can we tell from that picture if it has thrust vectoring or not? Also, does it seem based on project progress that it will be ready to join the 003 when the ship enters service?

I suspect this image is a "newly released old image".

That is to say, it was probably taken some months ago. I would be somewhat surprised if the airframe was still in unpainted primer given its status as a prototype for an intended in service aircraft.

In any case, the emergence of additional photos, and clearer photos, was of course always just a matter of time as many of us expected.


I hope this can put to rest any residual doubts that some members might have had about the status of this aircraft and perhaps re-evaluate their own basis for assessing it.

Saw this argument too, someone referred to this pic as taken some time last winter and only released now
