Sure... My pleasures... I thought it is good to discuss further. Antiterror13 says 7 months is too long, really it is too long.

I think a jagged nozzle design on J-20's final design would make it very potent against any 5th gen fighters.
Serrating it will help...but they also need to better hide the IR signature IMHO. Something like these:

F23-nozzle-01.jpg

See the difference:

A scale model of J-20 showing possible loadout

This model is probably from when J-20 first came out. It shows F-22 type side missile bay firing mechanism rather than the 'peek through the zipper' (lol) type seen in the latter J-20 videos.

There is substantial weight and some performance penalty associated with f-22's thrust vectoring stealth nozzles. There is also likely some weight and performance penalty associate with yo-23's non-vectoring IR suppressed nozzles. Given the fact that engine development is clearly the weakest link in China's fighter program, and it is not a stretch to say at least major parts of current Chinese engine technology is still below the level at which the F-119 and F-120 engines for the f-22 and yf-23 were designed, I think minimizing avoidable weight and performance penalties would be a high priority in j-20 design if j-20 were intended to be kinematically competitive with G4.5 and G5 fighters sometime in the near future. So I don't think we would likely see a major redesign of j-20 to incorporate stealth or vectoring nozzles any time soon.

A report last year by official aviation news agency revealed a new "low observable nozzle" patent. And what is interesting is that it claims this is the world's first low observable AVEN.
