Good point!

Has there been confirmed new test flights by any of the other prototypes since the alleged PIO incident?

They may well have grounded the entire fleet while the software was being patched.

Roger the grounding of all the birds, I would remind all that it was some time after the F-22 "pancaked" onto the run-way, due to PIO, before the F-22 returned to flight. That is the prudent thing to do, I would remind all that my comment about the J-20 is that it is a "smart airplane"? if there is indeed a software glitch?, and we don't "Know" that there is, but if there is, they will try to replicate and find where the glitch "originated"? if they can "isolate where in the "chain of command" that it happened, they can find and replace that small "anomaly", or they can write a new line of program around that section.

So, as Dr. Song made us all aware, the J-20 has a very complex FCS that flies the airplane in response to pilot commands on the stick and rudder, that canard works in circuit with the aft surfaces on the main wing?? as the speed and configuration of the aircraft changes, those command protocols have to change of necessity, our own Eng could explain some of that to you?

there is a strange yellow plane...next to a white J-20...does anyone know the type? I first thougth of J-18 or J-31 but it does not match. Thanks

Deino already answer that for us last time when someone else asked a similar question few weeks back. The yellow plane with carnard right next to J-20 is a J-10B, the farther away yellow one it's a L-15/JL-10. :)

Nah! they love Deino, they are prolly waiting for his visit to present them to him for publishing, with his NEXT article on the J-20 in Air Combat monthly?? no doubt gents, Deino has been very encouraging and more than kind, I dare say anyone who reads his articles will come away very impressed and very encouraged with the progress of Chinese aircraft development and hardware.

This aircraft was developed in the 1980s and 1990s . It flew in twice in 2000 after a long development cycle. A 22 minute flight in February, and an 18 minute flight in April. it never flew again to my knowledge.

It was a technology demonstrator that originally started around the time of the US ATF program in the 1980s. It is old news and is not slated to ever become operational.

Some people feel that the J-20 was based on it...not the other way around.

But I believe the J-20 is a wholly indigenous Chinese design.

And the Mig 1.44 is sort of like the left over prototypes of the XF-23. Great to look at...nostalgic for those who are enthusiasts...but not ever going to be made production.
