Hmm ... another report only says that actually only 6 were seen, including 2 of them numbered as 0009 and 0011.

Grrr ... I can't wait, I don't wanna wait !

"Knowing what I know" and "seeing the little numbers game", it won't be a surprise to me that there may indeed be 6?? and probably are at least 6, but that may be the lot of them, 11 sounds really high, if we are talking about completed, flying, LRIP birds.

Like Deino, I want to see em!

Very Sharp, what a lovely aeroplane, you have to give the Chinese credit on this bird, she has nice lines, looks rather stealthy, and will no doubt come complete with a very sophisticated avionics suite,,, shes a winner, but if she is as stealthy as I think she is, and as high tech as some of my buds on here insist, she will be expensive, and require a great deal more precision than even the Chinese Flankers, I'd almost bet she is as rare as the F-22s have proven to be.

Mass producing Flankers, is a whole nother ball game than the J-20. These are not rubber dog chew toys, these are the real deal, and they are about 6 notches up the scale, that's what 5th gen means, very sophisticated.

There seems to be universal agreement the J-20 is stealthy from the front, but whether it's stealthy from all sides remains an open question. I was skeptical of of its technological advancements until someone linked an article on Chinese pilots' critical reaction to the Su-35 as being unsatisfactory and underwhelming (compared with the J-10B/C, J-11D, and J-16?). That got my attention for certain.

I think that giving credit where its due, starting with Dr. Song and his team of very fine engineers, to the techs, and "craftsmen" on the line building these airplanes basically by hand, (for those who don't remember, those early F-22s were each one largely hand fit and finished), and the J-20 has proven to be a labor of love, with a status and work ethic being demonstrated that lots of folks miss, even interested Westerner's.

I think the mistaken view that Westerner's don't give the Chinese people credit for hard work and ingenuity, (not saying some haven't had that attitude) is given the heave ho by the many fine hardworking American/Chinese citizens who are in positions of leadership and respect.....

Honestly, I think most Americans love their Chinese friends, and show them due respect? I value particularly each of my Chinese Brothers opinions, and appreciate the many kindnesses I have been shown here over time on the Sino Defense Forum!

Sorry for the off-topic, but I really do think its time that we all remembered that we together can build a better world of trust and respect, or we can give in to resentments and slights, and sell one another down the river. Jeff Head and BD Popeye, as well as Siege and Deino, Vesicles, Jura, Forbin set a "tone" that we must maintain and protect, by choosing to honor and respect one another, and our respective cultures.

and this is a very fine airplane, and I greatly appreciate those who have gone out of their way to share this very pretty airplane with the rest of us, thank-you, and thank-you again, Air Force Brat bowing deeply to his honored and precious brothers!

Because of longstanding ideological and strategic conflict, narratives of past oppression and current threat, along with xenophobia, prejudice, and good old fashioned "us verses them" tribalism; we cannot ignore the lingering resentment and distrust between many people in the West and in China.

In the age of internet message boards, people of different opinions and backgrounds all mixing together can either polarize them even more, or it can help them learn about each other and expand mutual understanding and respect. To go the second path we must let go of ego and eschew antagonism for its own sake.

With firsthand experience of how toxic "discussions" between Chinese and Westerners can become, I do think the tide is now finally starting to turn. On topics related to China, Western commentators are often very contextually ignorant, excessively critical, and sometimes clearly racist/misinformed. Chinese commentators on the other hand tend to have excessive nationalist sensitivities and are conditioned to constantly be on the defensive. Luckily we've kept the worst of it off this forum thanks to the efforts of the mods and the pool of long time users.

When we look at the latest batch of pics of J20, I think everyone can quit their bickering for a minute and appreciate a beautiful piece of engineering.

What about the HMD for J-20, are they as sophisticated as the plane itself, is it able to to cue all the data from J-20 sensor fusion and is it able to display all the data to pilot.

Probably not to the same level as the F-35, likely simpler, but saying that, maybe more functional. The J-20 has a HUD, so its not all in the helmet. I would say that's a good thing for me, but other's are very enamored of the HMD,,,, now I do like the HMS, and that's a fabulous idea, that I imagine the Chinese are very good at.

The HMS for the F-35 is an amazing piece of technology, but may be to ambitious at this stage, I really don't know, but hey I'm an antique myself, and still an analogue Mark I.
