Sorry .... but first of all there was no interview and even more I never said

I said in an interview with Kyle Mizokami that there are already about 12 LRIP birds, but surely not combat ready ...

Any info on who wrote that report?

For clarity, I don't know the man, nor do I follow his posts. I do, however, periodically read Next Big Future.

Can't we summarize Aboulafia's comments as "lockmart good!" and save ourselves the trouble of reading them?

Heh! Heh! Heh!,,, well thankfully, we don't need Richard Aboulafai to tell us the LockMart is good, history has proven that beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Lockheed Electra, P-38 Lightning, P-80/T-33, F-104, C-130, SR-71, P-3, C-5, F-22, and F-35. That's ten of the most amazing aircraft that have ever taken to the skies. Show me another list that even comes close?? you can't. LockMart has the kool/effective airplane MOJO, make mine a Lockheed!

and I forgot about the U-2??

You forgot plenty. I especially remember the Constellations but I also know that they were more accident prone than the Douglas DC-7.

Yep, I flew home from Okinawa with my old pappy on a DC-7, McDonald Douglas was a great company who built the F-4s an F-15s, by the way, the F-15 is still in production, and still one of the most beautiful effective, sweet flying airplanes ever to take to the air!

We're getting very OT!
You are thinking of the McDonnell Douglas company. Douglas couldn't survive on its own and was taken over by McDonnell in 1967 long after the last DC-7 was built. McDonnell Douglas was taken over by Boeing in 1997 after a spectacularly failed attempt at reorganizing the Douglas division. The number of management layers was to be reduced from IIRC seven to four. Everyone was fired and invited to apply for a position in the new much smaller organization. The resulting chaos proved fatal.
