No ! We have seen them with pylons but not with drop-tanks !
IMO they are indeed ready to go to Zhuhai ...

But does J-20 need 4 drop-tanks for its flight to Zhuhai?
Zhuhai is less than 1800 km or 1000 nm from Chengdu apart.
OTSo now we know its plumbed to carry 4 additional "drop tanks", the F-22 typically carries two 600 gallon aux tanks??? I imagine it is also "plumbed" to carry up to 4. Typically you use the two outboard tanks first, then the inboard tanks then internal fuel.
The Mitsubishi turbo-prop I flew the Tips were actually the mains, roll control was "spoilers" rather than traditional ailerons, as the whole aft of the wing was "Fowler Flaps", in order to add lift. So roll control was critical, and it was critical to manage fuel flow to keep the Tip tanks at very near the same level, otherwise you would be flying along having to carry a little spoiler on the light side, creating drag, and reducing "roll responsiveness"
I would imagine that you are right Deino, particularly with the "rolling reversal" and other advanced maneuvers being displayed above.
Hate to be a wet blanket, but what exactly is so "incredibly amazing" about the J-20? She hasn't seen a single combat sortie, and the public doesn't know her capabilities and shortcomings, aside from complete dependency on Russian engines. I'll grant you she certainly looks pretty, but until she's been battle tested, she's just a beautiful virgin with lots of dudes drooling over her.China's Air Force Chengdu J-20

We should see the world as it really is and not how we wish it is. I'm happy to see China, even under the CCP, do great things in economics, science, technology, and art because not only do they benefit the Chinese, they'd eventually benefit all mankind.Too many PRC good news lately can get Blackstone panty's in a wad. Remember later on China will be launching two Taikonauts into space for the latest space mission.

Well then, I'd hope you reserve your thoughts for other fighters as well, such as the F-35, with no combat missions, and an engine that occasionally catches fire. Or the F-22, which has no (significant) combat missions (did it get 1 or 2 sorties against a small third world middle-eastern country with no viable air force or SAMs? Not sure) and occasionally strangles its pilots...We should see the world as it really is and not how we wish it is. With space mission and Taikonauts, there are undeniable evidence China has done it before and will do it again. Therefore, it's believable. As for the J-20, the public still doesn't have a lot of concrete info on what it could and couldn't do, so we have to wait for more facts to surface.
See the world for what it really is, based on observations and facts, and not how you wish it is.
