The previous illustration of PL-10 show the back fin is folded and fold out when launched. But that maybe wrong because they though PL-10 is copy of another next generation ASRAAM.. Turn out the real PL-10 looks quite different from the expect one.

Is its possible this is actually a BVRAAM? SOmething like MICA?

Not necessarily. The F-22's weapons bay is somewhat longer than the 3.02 meters of the AIM-9x, but part of the bay is devoted to clearance space for the missile to fire. The need for clearance space is negated if the entire rail sits outside the bay. I guess my hypothesis that the design of the rail did allow for storage of something larger than a pl-9 wasn't entirely wrong, even if the bay can't fit an MRAAM.

I'm probably more excited to see the missile than J-20s side bay side mechanism to be honest

I'm happy to see that two of my hypotheses seemed to be correct

Actually I think the round currently featured is just a test round since I can't see the IR seeker on the missile. This probably means that they are testing the aerodynamics of the new missile on the launch rail.

the missile look much bigger than her counterpart like aim-9x or sraam.
giving the size ,speculate the missile may house data link and extra rocket fuel .allowing to missile to performed beyond visial range interception.
or missile seeker incorporate modular design similiar to french AF MICA.

Huh???

To me the missile looks no longer than the PL-8. I will be very surprised if it is actually longer than 3 meters.
