What kind of budget do we 'guess/think' that the J-20 has?

The new missile launch door is very smart, but it looks like there are a fair number of components.
I'd love to see this machine listed in action for 5-8 years so they can find out the operational cost, hopefully, economic enough so that they can have 200+

This actually very difficult to estimate. According to my wall-climber friend from CJDBY working at CAC pretty much stinks. Even top engineers work 7 day weeks so I hope that at least they'll get generous bonuses once the J-20 enters production.

Shouldn't be more than the undercarriage. Relative to the total jet, very little. And a little more than the more conventional missile door of the F-22. It's like having a electric powered accessory in a car, like the moving foil in a Porsche.

I don't see why the said sensors couldn't be integrated within the fuselage in the same fashion as the F-35. If you really have to do this, you can cocoon them and mount them on external pylons, similar to how detachable gun-pods are placed on F-35B and C variants.

1. If PLA does it in F-35's way, it may receive F-35's bill and schedule.
2. Of course anything mounted in the side bay can be mounted in external pylon. However, hiding it in the side bay to keep stealth until the last moment may be mission critical for some kinds of pod.
3. Since SRAAM is light, the weight and size of such kind of side bay payload is limited.

In my wild guess, guided 70mm rocket pod may be possible to replace SRAAM. For example, sidewinder diameter is 5 inch and Direct Attack Guided Rocket is 2.5 inch. Considering the fins of a missile, a sidewinder-like SRAAM may be replaced by 3 DAGR pod. The weight and the size of these two options are in the same class.

Chinese Air Force in CAC recruiting test pilots

空军开始面向战斗机部队招收试飞员,雷强大校当首席考官。估计歼20研制要加速,以后几架同时试飞,也不要奇怪哦。

Air Force is recruiting test pilots from fighter pilots, Senior Colonel Lei Qiang will be there chief recruiter. Believed that the F-20 program has been accelerated. In the future, may will, do not be surprised, have more than one aircraft being tested at one time.

Well, this is the way its done by serious folks, lots of F-35 test pilots.....Brat, I hope you're right, I would love to see 2003 up and running flight test, its about time if they have their design finalized ?????? Brat

Don't know why the three yellow parts are rotated to the skin? The moving parts may destruct RAM coating of the skin.

I think it might be to help in stabilising the pylon so that its joints don't have to endure as much strain when trying to hold the pylon outside in a fixed position. Imagine trying to hold a 50k mass on the end of a 10m pole with you on the other end; the mechanical disadvantage you'll be suffering from would be very uncomfortable to deal with. Having a person on the other end of the pole helping you hold the 50kg mass would be very beneficial. Perhaps that's the purpose of the yellow parts; to stabilise the pylon and its payload and to reduce strain of the joints.
