Thanks for posting A.Man, and great idea to check it out for yourself, looks like the security at Chengdu is there to discourage our faithful reporters, hopefully at some point things will get back to normal, sorry you didn't get to see the J-20 or even the J-10s fly, I have made a lot of trips to the airport over the years only to find it all buttoned up, so heres hoping that next time, you will get to see something kool. brat

Auto translation like google translate does a better job between languages that are a bit similar to each other. like from german to english or even from Japanese to Chinese (granted that's because they share a lot of characters anyway.).

But I think generally Chinese is the hardest to translate to other languages, because the way the characters are used and their meanings can be quite fluid. Also the grammar rules are different if less structured.

Modern computer translators are designed to take into account things like context, speech patterns, and to also try and learn from corrective input over time. Older methods just translated characters into corresponding words, which of course leads to horrible translations.

Things still aren't perfect, but computer translation is certainly a far cry from what it used to be.

Sorry for the off topic. Back to the J-20 for me.
