CCTV special?
I doubt it's comprehensive. I expect a lot of hype and patriotic chest thumping. It that's the case, I doubt it's J-20 related. Probably J-10 related. Considering we had a comprehensive documentary on the development of , but not on J-10. For a similar special on J-20, we need to wait until 5 years after commission of J-20, at the earliest.
It is about the J-20.
I'd say the rumors of the J-20's death is extremely exaggerated.
If I recall correctly wasn't there a lot of activity like this around the 2001 right before the 2002 emerged?
I doubt it's comprehensive. I expect a lot of hype and patriotic chest thumping.
That's what I meant when I said hype and patriotic chest thumping. (You can disagree with the characterization). Some Chinese military documentaries give some good information on development history of new weapons and platforms, but rarely do we get any actually solid information on capabilities (of course, most Western military documentaries are hardly better, and for good reason). Others, especially weapons and platforms that haven't been in production and operation for a few years, are no more than CCTV propaganda pieces. To put it short, I suspect whatever they're filming is more of the latter.Actually, that's not what I feel from past documentaries about Chinese Military. is about DF-11, New IFVs, Type-99, J-10, JH-7, KJ-2000 is actually very modest. Lots of patriotic emotional stuff, but I saw no hype and chest thumping and it constantly reminds viewer that China is still way behind US. It instead focus sacrifices made by researches, workers and testers etc. (For example the chief production engineering for J-10 also died from over exhaustion soon after its first flight, similar to Luo Yang from J-15 program. However, due to secrecy of J-10 back then it's not revealed until this documentary.) Who know what details will get revealed from J-20 program.
Also the is fairly comprehensive. I would compare it to from discovery channel. Much better than the stuff we air today like "".
2002 is out again today:
