The oddest pilot equipment I remember was when the first ten MiG-21's were delivered to Finland. Nine were flown by pilots in ordinary anti-G suits and helmets, the tenth by a gentleman with hat and coat.

oddest was during the pearl harbor attack,a US pilot still in pajama jump into P-40 flew the aircraft and manage to shoot down a attacking zero.

well if i can see a hobo with a rocking chair sitting in the middle of a road blocking traffic, i suppose anything can happen. though saying that, stepping on a pedal(rudder of a plane or the gas on a car) barefeet is never a good idea.
