So did we slapped ourselves in the mouth when back then we fiercely denied 2001 and 2002 to be demonstrators?

Well, my Daddy always said not to believe anything you hear and only half of what you see, that philosophy seemed to serve him well through 22+ years in the USAF starting out as an enlisted radio operator and retired with 6000+ hours of accident free flying, including a years stint at the US embassy in Saigon coordinating air ops for MACVSOG during the TET offensive, he never offered any apologies for doing his best, and never expected less out of anyone else, wasn't impressed with those who were overly impressed with themselves, so no, I think we've made some astute observations based on the very limited intel we have. Keep up the good work, if 2001 and 2002 prove to be anything other than pre-production proto-types it will be because someone ran out of money, not because our observations were inaccurate. Brat

I don't quite understand why you'd assume the initial models to be tech demonstrators or why the airframe design would change so massively between the 2001/2002 and 2003 models.

For the type of performance testing the 2001/2002 models have done, there's no need to have that shape of airframe; the 2001/2002 models have never even been observed going supersonic.

We're assuming it because that's what the good ole rumour mill's been cooking up, for long enough that it's a prediction we've all internalized.

I'd hope not. I imagine that's the kind of thing PLAAF wouldn't want people to easily see... and preferably they'd do it at altitudes where people with DSLRs can't snap pictures of.

Now that the Liaoning has sailed, perhaps some of those restrictions on the flight ops will be lifted as well, there is no doubt that the early exposure of the J-20 was intentional and to some end, so confidence seems to have waned. The J-20 is likely very close to its LRIP state, although at some point I do expect a sig engine upgrade, I am surprised it hasn't already occurred, perhaps with 2003, which I fully expect will be launched before the end of summer??? This picture shows various development milestones for jet engines within China. There is a discussion on certain Chinese forum as to which stage WS-15 is at right now.

Just what stage do you think the WS-15 is at right now ??

I think that is is just one year away for being tested on the J-20. In 2014, I can see J-20 flying with WS-15, then 5 years after that mass production begin.

Remember the cycle for turbofan engine development is 30 years. WS-10 started in 1984, so now it is fully matured and upgrades will follow.

WS-15 started in 1991, so by 2021 it will be fully matured !

还有啊,成都端午节那么好的天气,你怎么也不飞飞啊
我郁闷哟,以后没有好PP看了
