But Pakistan will be able to help out to a certain extent.

Agree - relations between Egyptian Airforce and Pakistan Airforce are close, and they will help for sure.

He also complained that the deal with the other three potential J-10CE buyers will take time because payments will be in unorthodox form (implying minerals or oil). Apparently Chinese MIC hates doing business like this because there are invisible costs and headaches associated with trying to offload these assets.

There is potentially a large order waiting from Iran if the payment methods can be resolved. I dont understand why China wont take payment in oil, given how much oil China imports anyway ????

Possibly pressure from UAE/Saudi Arabia.

One other possible African customer for the J-10 is Angola. They have historically relied overwhelmingly on Russian airframes, but received some K-8 trainers a few years ago.

They're also one of the bigger air forces on the African continent with a significant number of legacy platforms in need of replacement.

So it would make sense for Angola to follow up the K-8 acquisition with an order for modern Chinese fighters, especially given the current priorities of Russia's MIC.

Issue with Angola is payment: the country is already deeply in debt to China, and there's been growing uncertainty over Angola's ability to take on more. However, China remains the #1 customer for Angolan exports in general and hydrocarbons in particular.

Given all that has been said about the need for payment in kind for the prospective J-10 deal to go through, Angola could be it.

Hasn't Iran already placed order for Su-35? IIRC it has been agreed upon that Iran would prefer twin-engine heavy jets for longer endurance.

China won't be sending any military big ticket items to Iran for the same reason why they refused to do that to Russia. because they don't want to antagonize the west too much. Israel is populated by God's chosen people who are far more important than Ukraine is to the west.

The issue is with the iranian budget, they can't spend everything on expensive imported arms. At least not if they want to fight and win.

Even though Ukraine itself isn't doing well, the Ukraine formula of using a lot of inexpensive hand me down arms should probably be considered one of the most optimal method.

Payment to China is the least of Iran's worries, they have a lot of funds or other things to pay with. The issue is the running costs of some expensive foreign fighters, buying replacement parts that can't be made in Iran, having no ToT and so on. Not to mention J-10 with smaller combat radius will have to be bought in larger numbers due to Iran size.

Let's face it, J-10 (and similar contemporary like Rafale or Typhoon) are heavily built to awe in shows and peacetime, but do not excel in peer conflicts, unless you can field a shit ton of them. Their asset to China is actually their low price compared to twin engine fighters, which isn't an asset for import buyers, as the J-10s get marked up a lot.
