IMO it looks more like a light for night-IFR-operations ! It isn't the IFR probe attachment, which is a bit above.

Good the hear pilots are alright and no additional injuries to anyone. As for the aircarft, anyone knows what engine it used?

J-10 is likely still controllable for some time after engine failure for the pilots to do a last minute maneuver to bail themselves safely out of the aircraft. A plus-point for J-10 since not all fighter jets are that friendly after an engine failure, e.g. the JH-7A? So far all the J-10 pilots have managed to land safely after bailing out.

All legacy J-10s have AL-31 engines.
