are we sure it's just a HDR photo? there seems to be some high contrast filter, even some artistic filter going on there over the whole image. Perhaps to mask the areas with serial numbers that've been photoshopped. Area around intake is visibly smudged, with serial being removed.

I guess that might suggest that further batch 2 airframes are flying.

I guess that might suggest that further batch 2 airframes are flying.

Of course, some post processing must have taken place. For example, HDR cannot negate the fog/smog that seems to perpetually shroud the city of Chengdu. I believe the contrast and sharpness are cranked up, but HDR is responsible for the rich color saturation.

Yes, that's indeed strange .... But why Do you think of Second prototype batch, when all 1-0x numbered aircraft are Said to be batch one ?

haha, shouldn't have said prototype in there. Maybe batch 1 is the pre-production batch that will go to FTTC or CFTE for testing out flight envelopes and developing tactics and the second batch is the one first that will joining into an active regiment? Just guesses.

is there a way of knowing when that image was taken? is it recent? meaning first lot is still being tested without final paint? or was it taken months ago when we got the other first lot images?

anyway, preproduction lots of up to even 8 planes aren't uncommon.

The paint scheme is a big improvement overall with no more black radome. I just wish the roundel was gray as well.

As far as I can judge this picture the J10 got finally RAM coating. Not the one we see on Italy based US f16's but somehow a bit finer. The differences in color of the rudder is due to the rudder being moved a bit to this side. So the light changes the reflection.
