Guys, I apologize if this has been answered before but what is that potruding piece just to the left of the front landing gear door? looks something like a FLIR pod or is that part of the door mechanism itself?

DUH.. thanks.

You're welcome!

But coming back to the J-10B, I think it would be profoundly foolish on Pakistan Air Force's part, not to pursue J-10B's acquisition. The aircraft and all the capability that comes with it, will allow Pakistan Air Force to establish a robust fighter fleet which would include JF-17s and F-16s. The recent news of Pakistan Air Force procuring 13 Fighting Falcons from Jordan, doesn't give a clear indication on whether they are going to increase the F-16 fleet at the expense of J-10B. But, I hope that this is not the case.

In my opinion, these 13 fighting falcons could be from the original 28, which are to be supplied as a refurbishment of the Peace Drive II deal. 14 were delivered in the last 5 years and 14 more were to come, but there had been no news on when these remaining F-16s would come. Perhaps these F-16s are those 14 which were a part of the original 28. Maybe other members might wanna shed some light on this.

There is no way PAF right now can induct something as advanced like J10B not going to happen

PAF F16 fleet

31 operational out of the original 40 all 31 to be upgraded to MLU standard
14 refurbished F16 undergoing MLU in Turkey by TAI
13 F16 coming from Jordan
18 brand new F16 inducted

That leaves opition to get a further 18 new F16s and 14 used one are still pending

Total current fleet 76 aircraft total possible fleet 108 units

So there is no possibility that the 13 Ex-Jordanian F-16s are part the remaining 14 of a total of 28 that were allocated for Pakistan Air Force? So this deal is a direct procurement of Pakistan and not under the FMS from America?

somehow i have a feeling the alleged j10c variant is in fact some partially-specialized subvariant of j10b. perhaps for SEAD or more geared towards air to ground or something. Recce variant would also be possible if image suggested that, but we saw no such bits on the 2-01 plane.

or it is simply an export variant, because there's some undisclosed buyer ready.
