So much for the supposed improvements in Chinese jet engine manufacturing.
I personally think that China is taking extra pre-cautions to regarding the endurance and quality of its WS-10. The fact they have equipped them on the production J-15 means they are not failure and rather trustworthy. However unlike the j-15, J-10b is a single engine aircraft, since it a new variant their engineers probably want to evaluate it first on a the 2 engine J-15 and isolate any problem that may develop solely on the J-10B design rather than weighing possible causes from the WS-10.

Regarding engines, the following factors are probably why the J-10B hasn't been seen with a WS-10 aero engine.

- It is a single engine aircraft; extra care is needed
- Production rate of WS-10 is not able to keep up with airframe production
- WS10 is a product of Shenyang Liming Aircraft Engine Company; their fighters are most likely to be endowed with the foremost priority
- China wants to use her old stocks of Saturn engines before switching to new ones

Exciting times, serial production of J10B and J15 has clearly without a doubt started

Next year the regiments should start standing up

While it is very exciting to see the Bravo, I hope it doesn't relegate the J-31 into nothing more than a demonstrator. While there is no way for us to know the performance and capability of the J-31 compared to the J10B etc, I really like it and hope it has a bright future.

Also not to get OT in this thread what ever happened to the JH-7B? wasn;t there rumor about a stealthly JH-7?

Agreed, but to date, we have only seen the one J-31. We will have to wait and see what more comes of it (keep an eye on the J-31 thread).

In the mean time, the PLAAF is moving forward with the J-10B upgrade for sure.

That is a perfect question for the:

JH-7/JH-7A/JH-7B Thread here on SD
