Been waiting for this day for so long! Feels like I grew up with this bird. Got more emotionally attached to this one than J-20/J-31/J-15/J-16. I mean wow, 5 years later! Before the previous fighters, J-10B was the showcase of China's highest tech. For me, this plane is like a part of my childhood/early adulthood, even in 20 years I will still like this plane! Kind of like how you grew up liking a car, your heart will always skip a beat when you see one in real life or in a magazine and how your goal in life (one of them at least) is to own one even if it went out of fashion/style years/decades ago. I am so happy! So so happy! The J-10B is my CD/MiniDisc, while newer China watchers might be more attached to the J-20/J-15 (the Mp3/iPhone) etc. :D

+1

I also only properly started my PLA watching with the J-10B. What a fun five years it's been.

Now, just to see this plane in PLAAF colours... I hope they choose something decent to suit the lines of this beautiful bird.

where is the ifr at compared to the A and earlier versions of the B? I assume it's the reftracble type since PLAAF doesn't have boom type tanker or did they eliminate ifr altogether?

It's a fixed probe and drogue IFR system. It's just not attached on the J-10B prototype atm.

I'll update ASAP when more details come out.

Bottom line is currently the J10B won't be using WS10 series engines. There's no consensus right now as to whether when the J10B will use WS10, if at all. But many seem to agree this is not the ordinary AL31FN engine used by J10A, but are actually improved ones incorporating some of Russia's newer technologies and with higher thrust and better overall performance. Many have said that actually batch production started way back in July 2012. For a very long period of time this year these birds are just sitting there waiting for engines.
