It is. No doubt about it. The same was done to China with such names as Farmer, Flounder, Finback, Fishbed etc.

Yes I'm aware of that, but here in American culture the word Fagot is mostly used as derogatory name for homosexuals. How many of us go out and used the word for everyday life and say "I'm going to pick up some fagot to start a campfire" or "I played the fagot in orchestra"? See what I mean?

I know that the word faggot is derogatory towards gays. But i don't think that NATO is purposely insulting towards the Soviets. The MiG-15 is a plane from the early 1950's and i don't think thet the word faggot was linked to gays back then.

this is clearly well meaning explanation going further then it needs to. But please make note that we don't tolerate this kind of words being used. Let's move on, any more mention of this will face deletion or worse penalty.

J-10B has yet to enter service, so I think that will be a safe assumption.
