Again a maybe strange or stupd question but one regarding the dimensions of the J-10: We all know since some time the length of the J-10A is 16.43m, even if Wiki and some others still use the "Lavi-dimensions". But - and that's my question - it is also often reported that the twin-seater has a slightly streched forward fuselage .... has this been confirmed ???

The photos were taken at Yanliang. Don't overthink it.

No, I did not expect that could be a serial aircraft ... but I'm still quite sure that the B-version will be introduced as the next serial version and not only remains a test-bed for the J-20. As such I think these were simply photos from the operational testing at the CFTE.

Besides that any idea, who these gusy are ???

I'm still kinda of puzzled as why people think the J10B is a J20 test bed, these two planes don't share many similarities. I too fully expect the J10B to enter serial production, but only after WS10A production rate is high enough to support both productions at both SAC and CAC. J10A is proven to be competent in A2A combat but if PLAAF expect it to be competitive at around 2020 then J10B is the way to go. J10B is the proper single engine partner to J11B and can serve as a capable escort to a J16 strike team.

J-10B in operational evaluation
Showing here in a CCTV report is 30 Chinese Academy of Engineering Academicians invited to tour PLAAF units and a GAD testing facility. The footage also shows JH7 814 and a Y8 GX, which had its rear ramp open but clearly partitioned off inside.

Since J-10B is now transferred to an operational eval unit, barring any unforeseen circumstances the commission date should not be too far off.

Thanks hmmwv for the tip.

I too hope J-10B can be operational.. It is long overdue for entering service. Hope all J-10B model will be running with domestic WS-10A engine. That will be indeed an milestone for Chinese aeroengine.
