Gaza ceasefire agreement officially announced, mediators follow up to ensure its implementation
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, announced the start of implementing the ceasefire agreement and the prisoner exchange deal between the Palestinian resistance and Israel in the Gaza Strip.
The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar said in a press conference in the Qatari capital, Doha, "Qatar, Egypt and the United States of America are pleased to announce reaching an agreement on Gaza."
He added that work continues tonight between the two negotiating parties to complete the executive aspects, thanking "our partners, Egypt and the United States, for their efforts that contributed to moving the negotiations forward."
He also explained that teams from Qatar, Egypt and the United States will work to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire agreement, noting that there will be mechanisms to follow up on the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and follow up on any violations that may occur.
The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar said that the implementation of the agreement will begin on Sunday, January 19.
During the first phase of the agreement, 33 Israeli prisoners will be released, while Israel will release about two thousand prisoners during the first phase, including 250 with life sentences, as well as about a thousand detainees after October 7, 2023.
The first phase also includes the withdrawal of the occupation army from Rashid Street, which will enable the displaced to return to their homes, in addition to opening the Rafah crossing to evacuate the wounded Palestinians a week after the start of the deal, which includes the word "sustainable calm."
The agreement includes the formation of an Egyptian-Qatari committee to supervise the return of the displaced from the south of the Strip to its north, in addition the Israeli withdrawal from the Netzarim axis will be in stages, and the occupation army will also withdraw from residential areas to the Gaza border to a depth of 700 meters.
The Israeli forces will reduce their presence in the Philadelphi axis between the Gaza Strip and Egypt, and then they will withdraw from it completely later in stages.
The agreement includes a continuation of the ceasefire during negotiations on the second phase of the deal, which reduces the possibility of Israel resuming the war on Gaza. Hamas is also demanding guarantees of a specific timetable for rebuilding what was destroyed by the war in the Gaza Strip, according to Al Jazeera sources.
Mahmoud Abbas doesn't seem happy about the deal. the Israeli puppet was hoping the PA would rule Gaza after the war on the back of the Merkava.
"Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa stressed on Wednesday that the Palestinian Authority is the only legitimate body that should govern the Gaza Strip after the end of the war, amid expectations that a ceasefire agreement will soon be reached and prisoners held in Gaza will be released in exchange for Palestinian prisoners in Israel.
Mustafa said in a speech during his participation in an international conference in Norway, 'While we await the ceasefire, it is important to stress that it will not be acceptable for any other entity to govern the Gaza Strip other than the legitimate Palestinian leadership and the government of the State of Palestine'. "
"We are the sons of Mohammed Deif" .. Huge celebrations in Gaza after the news of the deal
Several areas in the Gaza Strip witnessed massive popular celebrations following the confirmation of the signing of a ceasefire agreement between the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Israel, which ends the ongoing Israeli war on the Strip for more than 15 months.
A joyful atmosphere dominated the streets of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, and Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, with frequent news of the imminent reaching of a ceasefire agreement and a prisoner exchange deal.
The celebrants chanted, "We are the sons of Mohammed Deif," in reference to the commander-in-chief of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas.
Israel cannot be trusted. even though the deal says there will be "sustainable calm" however once the hostages are released Israel could renege on the deal and go back to war.
the thousands of Hamas soldiers who were killed have been replaced and will be replaced by thousands more of volunteers. Hamas in Gaza is now ruled by Mohamed Sinwar. the name Sinwar ofcourse brings nightmares to your average IDF soldier. after more than 460 days of unprecedented bombing and a massive starvation campaign and with a massive numerical advatange (30k Hamas soldiers vs 300k from the IDF) the IDF failed to defeat those warriors and control that small strip of land.
in the entire history of humanity I don't think there has ever been such a military miracle like what happened in Gaza. people usually use the name "Rambo" to describe a strong soldier.. well if Rambo became real he would look like a toddler next to a Hamas warrior.
