Looks like Hezbollah guerillas are fighting like Vietcongs.

Hezbollah says fighters kill Israeli army elite troops

BEIRUT, July 30 (KUNA) -- The Islamic resistance said Sunday it attacked and killed Israeli army elite forces while trying to enter Teiba project area in southern Lebanon, sources close to Hezbollah said.
The sources told KUNA the Islamic resistance planted bombs in a building they had withdrawn from, and while the Israeli army force entered the building the explosives were detonated killing eight soldiers.
The Israeli forces are hardly attempting to recover the dead soldiers, added the sources.

The Israeli cabinet has agreed to widen the country's ground offensive against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

The decision, made at a closed door session, received unanimous approval, according to a senior political source.

The government is also planning to call up thousands more reservists, Israeli radio reported.

Earlier Prime Minister Ehud Olmert ruled out an immediate truce, saying Israel would continue its offensive as long as its security was threatened.

I saw 2 interesting clips one of a Merkava getting hit by what may have been some sort of ATGW. I also saw a somewhat puzzling clip of what appeared to be a Kfir Warplane. I was under the impression the Kfir was taken out of service and held in mothballs. any input would be great.....cheers ute.

I would regard such news items coming directly from Hezbollah(we have destroyed'zionist ship' etc etc) or IDF (we have destroyed 2/3 of rockets etc etc), as propoganda and wouldnt put too much trust as such.

However there are quite a few confirmed reports of Merkavas getting hit by Hizbollahs however IDF is saying there were minor to none whatsoever injuries. Lets wait and see.

True, the Merkavas are taking one hell of a beating. Although the soldiers aren't getting killed, many tanks are getting knocked out of battle (if the explosions are powerful enough to injure soldiers inside the tanks, that must mean there probably was a serious penetration in armor). The conflict is gonna last several more weeks and probably come to an end. When that happens, only then will we realize the true extent of damage done to both sides.

Finn, the first clip of the merkava was on foxnews. the second was a clip on cnn of a Kfir banking and popping flares.

ALSO this is huge

JERUSALEM - In a major expansion of its ground offensive, Israel has decided to send troops deeper into Lebanon to clear out Hezbollah fighters and secure the territory until a multinational force is deployed there, senior officials said Tuesday
Israel hopes to complete the new push to the **Litani River** nearly 20 miles from the Israeli border in the next two weeks, Cabinet ministers said following a late Monday meeting

Of course by design or coincidence that area also contains springs which
supply 10% of Israel's water. Now Turkey is having disputes with Syria over
water as well. Wonder how the Syrians would view Turkey on both sides of
their border ?

I believe one of our members wrote an article about the coming water
wars

Would a "multinational" force even do any good? If the multinational force is anti-Hezbollah, they will be ambushed. If they are pro-Hezbollah or even neutral, it would be unacceptable to Israel? This thing cannot possible have such a quick and easy ending. Israel is trying to buy time until it figures out what to do because it is not making any progress.

Hezbollah aren't like the Taleban - they're trying to be a part of the local society. If they were challenged by a peacekeeping force (that was actually big enough) to give up their arms, I don't think they could resist. If they tried, then they'd have to change their nature and become like the Taleban, hoping to somehow drive out the peacekeepers and even overthrow the Beirut government.
