I think we may be going a bit overboard here with this "Just a bunch of Mullahs" thing. For one they could just be speaking about a model of the aircraft, just that I cant make out everything the reporters said.

Iran is also the most industrialized middle eastern country(if we rule out Israel and the fact that Iran is really not a part of the middle east) their manufacturing industry is almost on the level of turkey, they also have the best scientific research system in that part of the world as well(again ruling out israel) so lets not go into the stereotypical "Mullah" arguments, the "Mullahs" actually does little for the country and is not even involved in the basic day to day running of the society so it has nothing to do with them.


The fact is that the aircraft itself is impractical, it may however be an attempt to bolster the government and give some moral boost to Iranians... I have a friend in Iran but havent heard from him for two weeks now, as soon as I do i will get a grasp of how the local public is taking the news... if they even care.

Most, never, only, always, those are powerful words, use with deliberations

If you can come up with any comments from your friends there, do share, there is only a few of such source of information on the internet

He is my age(21), doing electrical engineering... There is very little info about anything in the media about the country, was surprised about how freely he could use skype and all... He also shows a strange like for the American accent, can emulate it far better than me lol.

What do you guys think about the wing? is that even practical? What about the increased drag from that wing shape?

Lol I know it's a funny image, but actually that cable is connected to the platform to power the lights on the platform and not the aircraft

Exactly...the whole point is the platform. A real aircraft would not be sitting on such a platform...it's be a lot more beefy to handel the weight of the aircraft...though I suppose if the thing extend down under the floor it could have the structure...but the impression is of a fairly light thing sitting on top of the floor, powered by that chord for lighting and turning.

Anyhow, just my two cents.

One only has to look at the cockpit glass to know it's totally fake. On the videos shown the glass or plastic is not even very clear and transparent with major distortion. It's not even real glass. Looks more like plastic you see from a bottled water.

I do however agree that the Persian people is quite a technologically advance group. Historically they have always been more advanced and capable than their Arab neighbors. Unfortunately their current form of government and the Mullahs have pretty much hijacked the entire country and turned it into some Islamic caliphate type state.

If you look at pictures of Iran in the 60, 70s etc they are quite westernized and modern. Their scientific research and achievement was leaps and bounds above and beyond any other Mid East states. Very unfortunate that country's great potential got squash almost overnight by the radical right wing mullahs and their cronies.

I'm just as skeptical about this stealth plane as everyone else is. But to say that the Persians where a advanced civilization in ancient times and the fact that they are now so far behind is because of the mullah's is just as ignorent as saying China was a advanced civilization in ancient times but the fact that China now lacks behind the West is because of the communists. In fact Iran made its biggest headways in science and technology after the Islamic Revolution and especially after the Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988). That's because of Iran's isolation and that has made them self reliant on many things. Just like China. Iran of course doesn't have either the size or the resources of China and have to make the best with what they got.

Anyone who doesn't sleep during math and science classes can tell that thing is too small to carry any practical payload, and the cockpit is too crude for anything more than flight control; sure that'd be enough for a concept-proving airframe or even showcasing FBW technology if they go that far, but if they ain't planning to churn out kamikaze planes, then the practical model have to be bigger for:

1. a sizable weapon bay for a practical payload;
2. twin engine plus practical internal fuel storage (unless you got something as badass as P&W F135 series); and
3. room for radar and avionics that's required for combat missions.

Other than that, it's just not practical and not even worth the 15-minutes-of-fame to flaunt...despite all the shortcomings, Project 718 or J-31 as least have a sizable airframe for such practical potentials...and most importantly, they did flew the real deal, not a scaled RC model.

Showcasing a study model isn't good propaganda, unless your goal is to get "nice sci-fi model you got there" kind of comment from the outside world.
