Seems like the jet on the turntable is a mockup(you can tell by just looking at it)

My farsi is not very good(Jamaican Farsi speaker what do you think? :D)... The female presenter said something about "parvaz midad... bala az... in jangand ast.." "this fighter flying for.... above..." took a while to make it out... the male presenter then made mention of the "jamharan" as well as some other names that I dont recognise, probably something about the native army things they built..

They also made mention of the fact that it was built in Iran and that it was flying in Iranian skies (parvaz midad... aseman e iran).

There are alot of other bits and pieces but you would have to point me to a specific time on the video(btw i am speaking about the liveleaks video not the BBC one).

There are more new photos and videos about it and also a report from CCTV.
IMHO, I don`t think it is just a joke. It might first used as a emulator for all kinds of test, then finally turn out maybe a different plane, a technical identification model in most means, I`m inclined to believe.

Just for kicks I want to say that this thing looks like a alone of the X36 tailless demo except the added F35 tails and winglets from the bird of prey. Its like its designer took bits from every x plane for the last two decades. To be blunt its a model and not going anywhere soon my money says first real flight 2020 and then only a prototype

Same info as seen earlier today, both there and on the BBC.

The flight pictures are a joke. Clearly a RC model flying. Looks like something you could see in almost any park in America on a nice day of a decent RC model flying by...and they have some very nice ones these days of Mig-29s, F-18s, etc. But you can tell from the speed, the way the aircraft moves withfar too rapid changes in aspect and posture, and the background (horizon, clouds, etc.) that it is is not a real aircraft.

Most prototype flights that are publicized generally show a pilot geting in and then that aircraft taxiing away and then shots as it taxis out on the airfield to the takeoff point, and then the take-off, flight with a chase plane, and then landing. We saw none of that...just some quick fly bys.

I believe they do not show any of that becaue they cannot. It will make clear the ruse they are running.

That model speaks for itself on the rotating platform. Nose area too small for any significant radar at all. Fuselage too small for any significant internal weapons at all.

No view inside the intakes, and their mounting location will be a serious problem for airflow.

No engine visible...I believe its because there isn't one. Also, the Iranians are not producing any high tech, high spec jet engines of their own to my knlwoedge...anyhow, it all ads up to a huge propoganda campaign tht may bolster their fanboy base, but no one else.

I predict that aircraft will never fly, even as a full size technology demonstrator, much less a serious prototype.

But that's just my own opinion on the matter.

Well it fools a lot of people, most people actually

I've been making rounds to Iranians forum, and... feels like i'm walking into a room of orgy party and ankle deep in white sticky... errr... substance

Like I said, bunch of Mullahs they are...it's just an airframe and the flight wasn't made by the 1:1 unit.

They really need to read more aviation journals.

few years ago, there's a news that Putin approve the sales dozen RD-93 to iran, the aircraft likely to be power by the RD-93 engine.
But I still suspect the iranian rely on the russian (or even China and ukraine 's) assistance, since iran do not possess large wind tunnel and computer (not to mention solfware) .

And if you look at the canopy, look at the amount of distortions in the glass... and notice the ejection seat? Looks like a an Martin-Baker MK7 from one of their F-4's or F-14's; not exactly the most state of the art in ejection seats.

Also, look at the wiring inside the cockpit; that's not the type of wiring to be used for anything maneuvering more then 2G's... and the pilot helmet looks like it was something used in the West in the sixties.

And it's nice of them to be using off-the-shelf, easily sourced general aviation components in the cockpit...

The Iranian Air Force definitely needs intervention because of UN sanctions the Iranian's are unable to import new fighter jets. The current fleet of Iranian fighters are old and they haven't been upgraded and for the American models the Iranians are unable to get spare parts for the past 34 years.

The list below is what i have gathered from Wikipedia the total numbers of Iranian fighters of all types comes to 481 fighters. But the true number maybe much lower then that. Those with the * are domestically build.

26 F-14A Tomcat
25 MiG-29 Fulcrum
24 Mirage F-1
17 Chengdu J-7
188 F-4 Phantom
120 F-5 A/B Freedom Fighter
18 Shenyang J-6
27 SU-24 Fencer
12 HESA Azarakhsh*
24 HESA Saeqeh*

HESA Shafagh (prototype only)

I knew the stealth fighter was a fake when i saw it. A plane like that is beyond Iran's industrial, technical and economic abilities to produce.

I think you only need to compare the thickness of the platform power cable to the size of the plane to realise that the whole thing is little more than six feet long.

To be fair though, when "Stars Wars" was revealed to the world in the 80's much of that system was little more than this, despite being built from better quality Airfix kits.

The Iranians have admitted its a mock up and news videos have shown RC model taxing and flying.

If they claimed it to be real then this would be a joke, but at best they were vague. Unfortunately not many people could understand Iranian language.

The worse part, IMO, from reading many of these posts, they very similar to posts I read on mp.net. If you observed Chinese military development, j-20, j 31 and many more projects have received similar reactions on other military forums. ;)
