IRGC today launched the "Noor" military satellite into space using the previously-unseen "Qasem" SLV.
Not much detail is known yet, but it's thought to be a 3-stage missile: 1st stage a Qadr-F (shahab-3) liquid fuel, 2nd stage new Salman solid fuel and small third stage motor. It was launched by a mobile TEL, which allowed it not to be detected in advance this time.
This is the first such launch by the IRGC, who now seem to operate a parallel satellite-launching program to the Iran Space Agency (they had enough of ISA infiltration and government failure perhaps).
This is the first launch of a "military satellite" by Iran, but the specs of the Noor satellite are not known. Also the first use of the new Salman motor with TVC (in second or third stage).
It's not known yet whether the satellite was actually successfully placed into orbit (IRGC claims it was), but this marks the entry of the IRGC into the satellite-launching world with a more military-based and tactical approach. Will produce competition with the ISA which is only good news.
