Never mind the head bobbing bow, what plane are Indians going to use on it?

Are Indians really going to sign a new multi billion dollar contract with Russian MIC for Mig-29Ks? They will be sanctioned heavily by the west if they do.

I can really see them ending up being in a situation where they have an aircraft carrier and no planes for it.

naval history is replete with examples of countries that did things differently from a consensus of everyone else for very good reasons. In some cases the good reasons reflect the particular circumstances of that country, not shared by everyone else. In other cases events prove the odd man out actually made the better choice than the consensus of everyone else.
You know, I think you're right about this. I've given what you said some thought and I've got an idea about what this design feature is for. It's really quite brilliant when you think about it.

One of the important methods of torpedo guidance is wake-homing. Disrupting the wake pattern in this way by bobbing up and down defeats an enemy torpedo's guidance system.

I can't really find a picture of the Vikrant in dry dock, I mean, it has to have a bulbuous bow. Without it, the ship would be like a car has springs but no shock absorbers, and up/down motion would make it a East LA style lowrider.

I do hope Indian ship designers aren't that stupid. Then you never know, having extra left over parts and not sure where they belong to when they overhaul a fight jet is one thing, missing a entire segment of a billion dollar ship is really something else.

Another picture of Vikrant in dry dock showing the entire aircraft carrier.

And the article where this picture came from.

What is the Indian aircraft carrier's "forgot" bulbous bow?In fact, it's a "feeling drama" of insufficient infrastructure
