Do you have any info on what HAL’s next plan is? with HAL ending the production run of Su-30MKI are they going to redirect the resources to Tejas... or is there other projects on the horizon?

I see, but wouldn’t the Su-30 run end before the Tejas MK2 would be ready for production?

Assuming all the projects are realized India will operate like 15 different variants/sub variants in the next decade. That will include at least five different engine types and who knows how much different types of munitions. That seems excessive.
Do you mean variants of Tejas or of different fighters overall?

I wasn't aware it was the former. If the latter I guess that's a result of trying to boost the Indian airforce as quickly as possible from multiple countries, without sacrificing the domestic industry.

In any event, no doubt there will be more commonality into the 2030s as large numbers of single types of aircraft are procured.
