Did the sun come out of the West? What’s happening here?

On closer inspection, nvmd!
IAF is far superior to the Chinese air force in terms of training of fighter pilots and "our people behind the machines" as well as operational tactics, but India "lags behind" China in military technology and "is way behind" in defence production. "We have to catch up with them," Air Chief Marshal A P Singh said, speaking in the run-up to the IAF Day on Oct 8.
So superior QC is becoming superior training now?

Pointing out this particular phrase:

We heard Saddam Hussein said largely similar things in 1990/1. What happened to him?

Honestly, it's just amazing how Jai Hind copium is getting more fantastical by the day. Tejas production ramp keeps getting downgraded even after all these delays. Apparently they are so dependent on foreign sources that even tiny parts from Denmark can hold up the entire production line.

That’s the price to pay for using superior QC approved Western components instead of Chinese junk. Since even US military products now use 40% Chinese electronics Tejas will be vastly superior to them when it is ready.

Drawings for Virupaksha radar for Su-30 got released. They aimed for Bars sized radar and try to top Irbis.

My estimates based on the available tweets.

The radar will provide about Twice the range of Bars, cost wise, compared to Bars it will be about 3-6 Times not including development cost. Initial batch of that radar might worth some 9 Million USD, with assumed production run of 272 sets tho and learning curve effect of say 95%. Cost of subsequent radar will be about 6 Million.

However given that India havent even serial produce Uttam, it's kinda hard to say how consistent their progress would be.

Interesting ... but again and a necessary question concerning all Indian programs: When will it be ready?

Your comment / final sentence therefore hit exactly the nail: Some Indians (in other forums since here no longer a member ;) ) are already "wet-dreaming" on a possible development of this radar for the Rafales but no-one can tell you when!

All you get as a reply is "me must change it, since the Rafale's radar is dated, our GaN AESA is anyway better!" ... but I would take any current operational Western GaAs AESA over an unproven Indian one.

Probably after CNGAD enters LRIP.

Rafale can only fit the same size radar as a lightweight fighter while it is a medium weight fighter.

It'll always lack in radar range compared to its peers in the medium weight category.
I was pondering that. The nose cone of the Rafale isn't exactly conductive a big radar unless they want to give a Kfir C.10 style nosejob.
