Then you should find out before you comment. Attackers are assaulting the students and touching female high school students and the delegates are telling the HKSAR gov't to tell those people to stop. The allegation is that the HKSAR gov't knew about what's happening

well I said I did not read the whole post, does not mean that I didn't read the news, and I am pretty skeptical about the gov't knew about what's happening in regarding that case. I am pretty sure that people including the gov't probably could have predicted these, since something like this have occurred in the past. Some people even blame the gov't or even the Chinese gov't for supporting these violence. In my opinion, that would be retarded, as any such action would always be blamed back to them. Remember, the protester in a way are disrupting the city, and they may even be disrupting some illegal activities. Gang members may resort to violence to scare people away.

Looks funny in the beginning, but it's not because he's wearing this for real reasons. This is how bad it's gotten.

He said he's trying to protect others and block blows for them when it happens again

Hello Jura! Nice to see you again.
Yes it is. It's very bloody violent there right now. When you have time, you can look through the media I had shared with you guys here. Those pretty much speak for itself of what's happening.

on Sunday (if I remember correctly) you provided a link to like broadcasting of the protests ... anything like this available right now, airsuperiority, anybody?

Here is what I think happened. The OC protesters have overstayed their welcome in many parts of HK and during the week their has been many verbal altercations between the protesters and the local residents and businessmans. On friday their frustration boiled over and turned into violence. When you have these sort of chaotic situations unfortunately you are going to have unsavory types of varius kinds to take advantage of it. That is were all the misdeeds comes from rather its those thugs beating up protesters or those girls being molested. There are no excuses for that and I hope those that are responsible are going to be held accountable for it.

However the problem is also that the OC movement and their supporters has given zero acknowledgment of the grievence and harm they have cause to others. And they put it all down to triad thugs or pro-Beijing elements or blame the government and police for this or that. They have simply swept aside the legitimate grief and concerns that their actions have cause to other residents of HK. And are now wallowing in self pitty and victimhood while their decisions and actions have help to cause many of the problems to begin with. I think this will further alienate the OC movement from the wider public in HK. People who at the beginning may have been supportive towards their cause may now turn against them.

1st lesson of democracy Airsuperiority. Everybody is entitled to their point of view. If you try and push your view on others, do not be surprised if they push back.

Now to everybody a technical question.

The dispute of 2017 seems to boil down to the composition of the selection committee for the candidates for the next CE.
How exactly does somebody manage to put their names before the selection committee as a candidate?

Is there a nomination process and if so, how does it work?

The details for the nomination process for the 2017 CE election has not being formalised. My understanding of current discussions revolves around a 2 step nomination process. An interested candidate has to secure support from 1/8 or 10 % of the Nomination Committee. This is step 1. The list of initial candidates is then formally considered by the full 1200 committee members. A formal candidate needs to secure at least 50% support from the Nomination Committee. This is step 2. The 2 o 3 candidates that secure the 50% endorsement from the committee become a formal candidate to be placed on the public ballot.

They are sitting there and then attackers showed up and beat them up. Don't you try to justify violence and sexual harassment with me. 1st lesson of learning to keep your hands to yourself.

I think I may have asked the wrong question in that case.
Maybe you can help me with the method by which the selection committee is appointed?
