I would take news reports on war games with a grain of salt.

The headlines if honest should read "When we fight china we are going to loose so give us and the MIC more money"
They are never going to say "We will obliterate China so dont give us and the MIC more money"

Today I would hazzard a guess it is a bit close to call with winning side winning through a mixture of lack and smart moves. At the current rate of expansion in the near future China will definitely have the upper hand

Regan et al won the cold war by playing poker, raising the stakes until Russia could no longer afford to compete. To my mind China is applying the same formula to the US

The whole idea that any simulation that disfavors US is a ploy to increase funding is a common cope spread by US nationalists.

Fact is, it is way more complicated than that. The US military or government does not depend on public approval whatsoever, but internally they might jostle over resources, so it isn't unheard of that they can try to increase demand for their own department.

However there is also the matter that American culture values face above all else. So yes while sometimes an organization will try to feign weakness to create more funding, they are just as likely if not more so to feign strength to save face. Because appearing strong gives them more funding in the long run.

I would say most if not all publicly released documents are exaggerating American strength, in order to appeal to the US public. Whereas documents meant for internal consumption can be either way.

According to Wang Shiyi, the armored forces of the Taiwan Army started to set out 36 hours before our D-day (landing day).
Then they will try to hide in a shelter 10 kilometers away from the war zone and advance to the standby line 4 kilometers away from the coastline when the landing troops begin to form.
Once the landing troops are in view, the tanks will immediately launch an impact. If they come under intense fire, they will retreat and use the city to protect themselves.

It seems that Taiwan's army has focused on urban warfare.

Independent how? They're recognized by less countries and less important countries (counting gdp) than even LDPR.
Only thing left is recognition. And China spends significant political capital just to prevent this symbolic recognition. In almost all other aspects of importance Taiwan is pretty much independent. Independent army, currency, elect its own leaders, conducts its own domestic and foreign policies, etc.. No wonder they want to maintain the status quo.

That means all structures capable of housing tanks are legitimate military targets.

“Political capital”, what a meaningless term.

You are describing the situation since 1949, so why do some people think Taiwan needs to declare independence and want Japan and the US to join with Taiwan to defeat China?

PRC has held military supremacy over ROC for the past 15 years. PRC allows Taiwan businesspeople to benefit from the mainland market. You should realize that PRC is not incredibly interested in disturbing status quo without a good reason.

I don't get this tactic. Seems like a very half-hearted attempt to repulse the landing. If you're this close to the beachhead you might as well make use of your armor's mobility and attempt to overwhelm it while you still have superior numbers.
