Use anti-drone guns to bring these things down. They are civilian drones so the Chinese military will not intervene even if those are brought down. If you continue putting on a stupid show then dumb civilian drone operators will try to stage shows of their own, possibly with fireworks other incendiary devices that could result in actual property damage. Mark my words.

The Taiwanese have no idea whether these are civilian or military drones. Bringing down a drone could be seen as an act of aggression. America came very close to attacking Iran for bringing down an American drone, and unlike Taiwan Iran is a sovereign nation.

A flare gives them the opportunity to say they've done something.

Wait a minute... remember how we first heard about UAV over flights and Taiwan soldiers shooting flares shortly before Pelosi's visit? At the time we all assumed it was a military drone, but maybe that was also a DJI? Or was there actually a confirmation?
