It's so funny to me the Taiwanese never dare to mention they've spotted J-20s, lol. I guess they are having trouble keeping track of how many aircraft are actually coming and going + what they should be revealing that they discovered.
I think one thing to keep mind of after this is where they are going to carry out exercises next. If we accept their active defense philosophy at core, then their goal should be to deter any base near China from possibly being used as a staging ground to attack China.
The first phase was in the militarization of Spratly and Parcel Islands.
The second phase is in being able to consistently operate large joint forces around Taiwan.
The next phase imo has to be Japan imo. I'm not saying they will do anything illegal, but they are likely to conduct more training/exercises around places that they would probably attack in a real war. The obvious one would by Ryukus and Sasebo naval base. I'd be curious if we start seeing more consistent aircraft presence and naval presence around there.
I just want to harp on something that I saw Patchwork discuss on reddit. Pelosi picked a terrible time to visit Taiwan. She picked the perfect time for PLA to be ready to stage a large exercise in very short time. She picked a terrible time for US military to be able to respond with its own show of force. If US Navy take several weeks to respond, then that makes the perfect point that US military simply can't respond if an attack actually does happen.
