That is the difference between Pelosi and the Republicans.

Pelosi gets her money directly from Taiwan via donations to her organization.

The Republicans will force the Taiwanese authorities to pay for these arms, manufactured by their constituencies, and later they will receive a kick back of some sorts.

The best part is no one will do anything to change this system because both sides are too busy pointing their finger at the other side for corruption, leaving them no time to do anything else!

That is proudly another Jai Americana moment.

After that, they bash China, then watch some football.

Hall of Fame game tonight!

Not hard core enough man, that dude wants to see some real action...some of our members have shown how far detached they are from reality nor experienced mayhem, destruction, and death which is why we tend to let our imagination get a hold of our passion and then assumed in our head how things should turn out in real life only to face reality that any use of force, even a display of force are complex.

Yeah, that is what I noticed.

The internet makes things easy (lack of a better word, I cannot think one).

Remember the ISIS? How did they recruit? Exclusively from the internet.

Same with all those dummies who ran off to Ukraine to fight the Russians. Like, dude! First rule of warfare, do not march towards Russia. Second rule of warfare, do not start a land war in Asia. General Montgomery thought those two rules up all by himself.

But the internet made it possible, and they went off to fight, for the frills, for the glory, to find honour, and to get liquidated rather quickly.

Same thing here, people get seduced that war could be fun.

Maybe that is the right word?

The internet seduces.

Makes people do and believe in all sorts of things, many of which are unpleasant and dangerous to oneself, others, or society at large. [rant][/rant]

If you talk tough but act soft, people will know you‘re just bluffing, and won't take your word seriously as time goes by. Like certain country love to bluff about nuclear threat from time to time, nowadays it's enemy knows it's nothing more than barking.

And it's not just military,in economic and tech field is well. The US hit Chinese tech companies all the time, everytime Chinese offical press says that "there will be serious consequences" "China will fight back" etc. And . . . . no more. No hit back on US tech companies,no ban on US cotton or fashion companies even though they are hitting XinJiang cotton. The proposed "unreliable entity list" is still empty all these years long. It's the same empty threat over and over. . . . I don't think these rhetoric has any meaning nowadays. It's merely a knee-jerk reaction, they will automatically response some tough rhetoric in these kind of occasions, even if they have no plan to take any retaliatory measure.

If you don't want to take action for whatever reason, fine no problem. Just don't say anything, keep it quiet.

That I agree with.

The missile has to be tested anyway. US intelligence planes buzzing around China all the time, you will never test anything if you are afraid of it.

Back in 80s,China tested DF-5 missile deep into the Pacific. There were lots of foreign intelligence units monitoring that test,so what?
It's strategy. The most advanced weapons are your trump cards. You use it to surprise your enemy and to win a war. Demonstrating it now only benefits the enemy and helps them to devise countermeasures against it when the shooting starts. For a practice drill, there's no need to reveal all the cards you're holding..

Taiwanese lobby bribed Pelosi 16 times with a total amount of more than $3 million?

Alleged launches of China's long-range rockets over the Taiwan Strait:

Called it.

Most US politicians make Bo Xilai look like a paragon of incorruptibility. For the CPC who are experienced in investigating corruption to find dirt about how Pelosi profited from this visit would likely not be difficult at all. Then, release this data to the public.

Usually, USA can fairly easily censor it, but due to the republican faction rabidly hating Pelosi, it's far from guaranteed it can be censored as the narrative starts spreading among the "underground" right wing whose platforms are owned by Pelosi-unfriendly oligarchs.

Biden might have dodged the biggest bullet by changing his tune and downplaying the visit instead of holding onto his untenable position. But China can still severely hurt Biden's control over his government by giving him 1 final parting shot.

If Pelosi is revealed to have personally profited from her trip, the US public will realize that:

1. Biden was too weak or corrupt to stop her

2. Pelosi risked American lives to defend her chasing profits and almost caused WW3

Since both are Democrats, once this narrative starts, the Republican party will fully grab ahold of it and never let US forget about the Democrat corruption and betrayal. The Chinese government itself knows it's English media is nonexistent, but they don't need to spread this propaganda themselves, they will borrow all the arrows from the Republican Party who operates the 1st or 2nd most powerful propaganda machine on the US mainland.

Of course, China doesn't actually need to release this data, just having this data means they hold Biden and the Democrats' balls in a vice. This is the sort of info you could use to make Biden bend over and even do stuff like say canceling his nuclear tests to make sure he isn't pissing you off, and much much more.

If China actually managed to get convincing proof or not remains to be seen, but it's another interesting angle of attack.

Honestly my gut feeling is that Biden is at least somewhat trapped. I don't think Ive ever seen US media change tune that fast, in a way that looked very unnatural, as if following a sudden emergency central directive. US was always exceedingly arrogant in it's dealings with all countries, even when they must cancel tariffs on China, they make sure to censor as much news as possible. The US I know would have sent Pelosi, let Pelosi negotiate arms sales, then sent the Reagan and 2 LHDs to forbid China from intruding into Taiwan self claimed territory, making a standoff like in 1996. Not meekly back away, bring her home without signing anything of use and let China seemingly do whatever they like (maybe except armed reunification).

The core of deterrence strategy,is to show your enemy what you are capable of,so your enemy won't even dare to attack you in the first place.

The South Korean President is hardcore anti-China and he chose to avoid Pelosi as well. Pelosi’s visit is clearly in the wrong.
None of the countries in the region should appreciate this unless they are Japan. A war in East Asia is a disaster for everyone around. And changing the current status-quo that worked for 70 years drastically increases the probability of a conflict. Biden's Asia policy is a farce. First, that ASEAN-US meeting that became a meme, then this. Really what the US offers to Asia except violence anymore?

Tangent to the topic: AUKUS was a horrible idea too. They spooked Malaysia and Indonesia and opened doors to selling of highly enriched Uranium for 8 subs Australia may not get in 20 years.

I love it when people try to get philosophical on this forum. Joking aside, it’s very hard to know how good Chinese military is at this point. Made huge progress since 1996, but we don’t know yet if all of the units can work together in joint operations across all spectrums in contested environments. It’s a work in progress until 2035.
