It seems to me the domestic dissatisfaction is solely due to not shooting down a certain plane carrying a US congress member or inaction of the PLAAF, which, let's be honest, was never on the table in the first place besides some republican right wingers.
Its less of not shooting the plane and more that nothing was done which surprised almost everyone in China. Most people didn't expect China to actually shoot down America's number 3 in the end, but most people did expect some sort of response in line with previous events where China intercepted Amercian aircrafts, flew in close, took pictures, or even dropped some flares.

what difference does that make? comparing with the current military drill and banning of export/imports? in fact, the hated "惠台" policy has come to an end.

Interesting that actually in 2020, China exported "Sand" worth $81M and also Imported "Sand" worth $244M .... so 3x import than export

I think China used sand (by dredging sea floor) during the build up of artificial islands in Spratly and Paracel

Chinese customs' 2006 notice on prohibiting natural sand exports except to Hong Kong, Maccu and Taiwan. It's at the bottom of the page.

Note there's a difference between 沙 and 砂 in Chinese.

We wouldn't have if it weren't for a certain barking dog with supposed government connection and endless saber rattling from official channels.
Honest to god I don't know why so many people have been duped into thinking Hu Xijin is somehow special and connected to actual decision makers rather than a troll on a leash the propaganda department likes to march out to make Westerners furious when every provocative prediction he's ever made hasn't panned out for a salt lick (okay I lie I know why but still the amount of weight people put into his words is comically silly).

There's nothing that says if you shadowed her plane you couldn't do all that stuff afterwards. Had China did the interception maybe even took a picture of Pelosi in her plane then afterwards announced the sanctions and excercise I would image the domestic audience response would have been vastly more favorable, while achieving pretty much the same end result.
