Dear tphuang,
Let me stand corrected. I now confirm that u were correct. The original intension of our policy makers to buy 36 of these F7BG. But actual purchase was as u said 16 of them. Sorry for my initial wrong info. But still I would like to know how do u rate these aircrafts in comparision with other F7 variants?

There is also a reported MOU between our nataions that Chengdu will establish a factory in BD to initially produce spares and eventually go into liscenced manufacture of Chengdu designs. can anybody confirm it?

Can any one give a comparison between F-7G and the JL-9. shouldn't the JL-9 be better with its solid nose cone with a bigger dia radar antenna.

It's hard to say. I can only say that the Nigerian ones are probably better since they paid the most for them and it would be delivered last. But other than that, the one Bangladesh is getting should be the same as the one Namibia and Sri Lanka is getting. Not sure about the spare, but I could see Bangladesh getting a deal to manufacture JF-17 though.

According to SIPRI the Namibian F-7s have Italian radar = Grifo-MG. Grifo MG has an enlarged 350mm (13.8in) diameter antenna and an expanded 30 elevation and azimuth capability.

As for F-7BG, it's probably up there with the Nigerian and Namibian and Sri Lankan one as the latest.

I am sorry for my wrong informations. Let me stand corrected, BD has bought 16 of these platforms against an initial plan to buy 36 of them.

Here is a photo for discussion. Got it from PAF forum. The discussion did not mention what plane it is, but circular green display is labelled KJ8602. I googled this and it is a Chinese RWR found on F-7/J-7 series.
