No but I know people who work in it.

People forget the Winter War started because Stalin wanted to have a buffer so that St. Petersburg would be outside artillery range from Finland. And now the Finns get themselves air launched cruise missiles which can hit the core of Russia. Including Moscow. Reckless. The payload of the cruise missile is also large enough at 450kg that you could make a nuclear warhead for it.

Finland got JASSM missiles years ago and other goodies too... as long Russians soldiers stay inside their own borders it's all good. Their choice.

The project of this ship is coming along very nicely and is becoming increasingly more mature even compared to the beginning of this program example this rendering of the year 2019

Latest rendering of the new ASW frigates for the joint Dutch-Belgian navies M-frigate replacement program
View attachment 87336
These so called ASW frigates will have state-of-the-art dual band S/X radars.

It’s interesting to see that the side looking S band arrays are located on the aft mast.

Too bad the ship won’t have enough tubes to make full advantage of those sensors. But perhaps, with CEC that’s not a major problem nowadays.

For ASW, I am missing a second helicopter.

Finnish defence firm Patria is preparing to manufacture 400 F-35 fuselages. They also will be maintaining all Finnish air force F-35 and possibly do full maintanance on some other countries F-35's until 2060.

I guess this is the sweetener so they join NATO. Once they do join expect those 400 F-35 fuselages to be 400 screws or something like that.

Nothing to do with this current situation as it was HX competition requirment that Finland has to be able indepedently maintain F-35 without sending them somewhere else. Lockeed Martin and SAAB were only companies going along with that requirment while BAE and Dassault offered nothing on that front.

Finland is ordering more F-35 aircraft than what Israel currently has. That is going to be real cheap. Not.
It would have been way more cost effective to buy the Gripen. Much shorter logistics chain as well.
And unlike the F-35 it would not be restricted to operating from prepared air bases. Which I doubt Finland has in any large number.
Blow up those airbases and the aircraft will be useless.

UK won’t be happy with this, I believe this is currently done by BAE, though it seems they are moving up the value chain to key electronics.
