I know its just a speculative CG, but interesting that the original artist didnt include any windows/crewed space in the stern facing part of the island. Do they just assume all flight control is handled from the forward parts? It would be somewhat analogous to Ford, but obviously a radical departure from Liaoning/Shandong.

Same progress than US-Navy had by relocating Pri-fly from aft to front. With more aircraft on the flightdeck it is more important to overview the forward part then to look into the approach sector.

I understand the why and am aware of the US practice (see mention of Ford, though the same is true for Nimitz etc). My point is more related to the fact that A) its a significant change from existing practice and B) the current arrangement suggests two island levels for C2 at the front. American carriers stack more levels for the same arrangement. I guess we find out soon enough, I just expected them to still add windows to the rear portion.

PS/Edit: I notice the artist also didnt include any weapons/sensors/fitted out items. So I am guessing they are just portraying the state of things as observed right now.

Otherwise please ignore my previous post/tweet. It was aimed at a certain US guy who tried to explain that the 003 carrier is in fact smaller than the Liaoning and Shandong since he scaled all images to the same size of elevators and in fact it is only a SMALL carrier! ;)

I have no doubt they are working on it In fact they did announce the start of designing large naval reactor maybe 2 or 3 years ago.
are you refering to this?

It refers to a 25 MW reactor, but it seems to me that this is a small output compared to the russian reactors, but im not an expert on this. Does anyone here knows about this matter?

It's a double-headache to see these toxic comments - while the domestic fanboys proclaim her a nuclear beast, the offshore denialists affirm her a truncated copy.

Looks like the steam engines have just left their delivery bed. So I assume it will take at least a month for the completion of the hanger and flight deck.
