Smoke stacks are usually made or brick or concrete and are most often found near factories and power plants On land.

The thing that discharges a ship’s engine exhaust into the air is called a “funnel” If it is used mainly for that purpose. it would often be called a “Mack” if the structure is also used to support radar and other major items normally found on masts.

Sorry for not using the correct technical terms. I was out and about and couldn't access my bookshelf.

But today I was able to look it up, correctly it should be "boiler uptake".

boiler up take is the ducting that conducts boiler gas away from the furnace up through the funnel. The funnel is the external structure that enable the boiler gas to be discharged away from deck and superstructure
