In fact I am confused…
Already mentioned by some, the latest images showing J-15 on board the Liaoning revealed one so far unknown number, namely no. 57!
In fact this ruins a bit my theory about serials 01-3x in 1st CAW, all 4x+ within the NAU, and all from 60-9x in the 2nd CAW.
… any idea?

You need to read the article more carefully. The first part of the article talks about an IRST like thing observed on Liaoning. The 2nd part of the article talks about IR-17 which Henri k suggests as an example of the IRST thing. But there is nothing in the article that says the thing on Liaoning is actually IR-17.
