It looks like it could be a Z-8J AEW helicopter.
Naturally, you'd want a AEW plane and the plane guard plane to be first in the air prior to starting your fixed wing launch for that cycle.
Right of course! I owe the Z-18J an apology haha.
The lack of KJ-600 had me assuming the PLAN CVWs been operating without AEW&C all along lol.
There are 24 J-15s in these pics. In terms of fighters yes this is basically the expected maximum. There are probably more helicopters in the hanger.

That is a pretty pristine looking hangar. It's amazing when you look at the "before" photos.
I wonder if there will ever be a documentary made of the refurbishment work.
In many ways the refurbishment job is more difficult because there is pre-existing structures that you have to workaround. For Shandong, they could change anything they didn't like or need.
